Santa Fe, NM – Several legislative interim committees are meeting November 8–9, 2012, at the state capitol in Santa Fe.
 
Thursday and Friday, the Science, Technology and Telecommunications Committee will meet in room 307 of the capitol building, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Senator Timothy M. Keller (D-Bernalillo-17) serves as chairman of the committee and Representative Roberto “Bobby” Gonzales (D-Taos-42) serves as vice chair. A number of technology and sustainable energy topics, especially as they relate to economic development, are planned throughout the two days. The committee will also study several pieces of legislation proposed for the upcoming session.
 
The Water and Natural Resources Committee (WNRC), chaired by Representative Joseph Cervantes (D-Doña Ana-52), will meet at the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA) building on Thursday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Topics for discussion include a report on acequia issues, fencing issues on railway rights of way, and the Rio Grande Environmental Management Program. The day ends with a tour of the ABCWUA water treatment plant.
 
On Friday, the WNRC meeting reconvenes at 9:00 a.m. in room 322 of the state capitol in Santa Fe.  Topics for discussion include the right to farm and a report on the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Assn., Inc. v. D'Antonio lawsuit, and a review of proposed legislation. Senator Phil A. Griego (D-Los Alamos, Mora, Sandoval, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Taos-39) serves as vice chair.
 
On Thursday, the Disability Concerns Subcommittee of the Health and Human Services Committee will meet in room 321 of the state capitol, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Representative Antonio Lujan (D-Doña Ana-35) serves as chair. The subcommittee plans a full day of discussion on disability concerns and available programs and services.
