The Aldo Leopold Centennial Celebration in partnership with Bosque School is launching the third annual writing contest for youth in the state of New Mexico.

This year, we are asking participants to reflect on the need to understand the source of our food and energy. All students enrolled in grades 6-12 in the state of New Mexico (with the exception of Bosque School students) are eligible to apply. The contest requires students to be creative and thoughtful while revealing their understanding of Leopold’s land ethic.

Prizes of $500 will be awarded to the first place winner in each of three categories: grades 6-7, grades 8-9, and grades 10-12, and a total of $500 given to honorable mention(s). In addition, $500 will be awarded to the school where the overall winner is enrolled. The winning authors will be honored at an event at Bosque School in April. All entries must be postmarked by February 22, 2013. For more contest details and an entry form, visit www.bosqueschool.org.
