Memorial Day weekend is the BLUES FESTIVAL weekend in Silver City, NM. Enjoy music and food at Gough Park on Saturday, then spend a lazy Sunday downtown listening to music at the Little Toad and browsing the Silver City Art Association galleries during their SCAA SUNDAY BLUES Art Walk from 10am-2pm, with some galleries are extending their hours even later to accommodate browsers who need a little more time. Three local artists are showing their work at the Grant County Art Guild Studio this weekend, June 2-4, and they are all CONNECTED BY COLOR. Celebrate the joy of color with the oil paintings of Gay Scheibl, the watercolors of Deborah Hutchings, and the fiber art of Vicki Gadberry. Show hours are 10am-5pm Friday-Sunday, with an opening reception Friday, June 2 from 4-7pm, during the SCAA June First Friday Art Walk. WINGS Art Show Opening Reception May 26

Everyone is invited to the opening reception of the Grant County Art Guild WINGS Art Show on May 26, from 5-7pm, at the Grant County Art Guild STUDIO, 200 W Market in Silver City, NM. Refreshments will be served. The work of about 35 area artists will be displayed at the show. All work depicts, or is inspired by, ANYTHING with wings. From cherubs to biplanes, and fiber art to bronze, this show has a range of subjects and medias to interest everyone. Caller advised her 37-year-old brother has relapsed and is on a "bender"/she was advised by his girlfriend he was making some suicidal comments/girlfriend left because he was getting belligerent/advised their brother committed suicide and that birthday is coming tomorrow and that may be a trigger for him/she spoke to him about 20 minutes ago and he hung up on her.

SILVER CITY, NM — Silver City MainStreet Project is excited to announce the May Kick-Ass Entrepreneurs — Silver City (KAE-SC) Story Time featuring La Bonita Bakery. The Entrepreneur Story Time will take place at Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery, 200 North Bullard Street in downtown Silver City on Wednesday, May 17 at 5:30 pm. The event is free to attend, with the option to purchase food and drinks, and open to the public.
Join us for Story Time and learn about how Sandra Calderon, Troy Miller and their late son Angel Acosta of La Bonita Bakery and Gila Releaf became Kick-Ass Entrepreneurs! Come hear how they came to open up their bakery, convenient store, and CBD shop. When Sandra arrived in Silver City in 2008, she did not intend to stay but, “There is no comparison to the people in Silver City” so she stayed.
