Santa Fe, NM –Today, the House State Government, Elections & Indian Affairs Committee passed a bill to offer free admission to state parks for New Mexico residents on Sundays. House Bill 284, sponsored by Reps. Susan Herrera (D-Embudo), Andrea Romero (D-Santa Fe), Linda Trujillo (D-Santa Fe), Doreen Gallegos (D-Las Cruces), and Abbas Akhil (D-Albuquerque), promotes our state parks by making them more accessible.
“With a booming outdoor recreation economy and the most beautiful state parks in the country, New Mexico has the potential to be even more of a national tourist attraction. As we promote our state parks, it’s important that we keep them accessible to all New Mexicans – and that includes free admission on Sundays,” said Rep. Susan Herrera.
House Bill 284 now heads to the House Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Committee.
