Santa Fe, N.M. – Today, Rep. Doreen Y. Gallegos (D-Las Cruces) received the AARP “Capitol Caregivers” Award, a distinction given to a select group of bipartisan legislators across the country.

“The AARP Capitol Caregivers Award is an incredible honor, and I am thankful to have AARP as a partner in the fight to protect our senior citizens and the most vulnerable. Senior citizens and retirees are our family members, friends, and neighbors, and I will continue to be a champion for their interests,” said Rep. Doreen Y. Gallegos.

“Congratulations to Rep. Doreen Gallegos for her leadership on senior issues, especially for supporting New Mexico’s working family caregivers. AARP knows that we can count on Rep. Gallegos to champion legislation that will help our seniors and family caregivers,” said DeAnza M. Valencia of AARP New Mexico.

The House Democratic Caucus congratulates Rep. Gallegos on this accomplishment. AARP serves over 250,000 New Mexicans and works to strengthen social security, expand access to healthcare and protect Medicare, and provide a strong voice for New Mexicans.
