Santa Fe – Today, Rep. G. Andrés Romero’s (D-Albuquerque) bill to expand access to higher education advanced from the House Appropriations & Finance Committee. House Bill 127 would increase the scholarship amount for students and the distribution from the College Affordability Endowment Fund.
“Expanding access to higher education will relieve students from crippling student loan debt, create a more level playing field, and invest in our workforce. This legislation provides scholarships to students who need them most to afford higher education. Expanding educational opportunities for students has a clear return on investment, and I am confident that this will uplift New Mexico students,” said Rep. G. Andrés Romero.
House Bill 127 now heads to the House Chamber for consideration.
