Almost everyone would like to add kindness to the world. On May 3, 2014, you can do just that through a BOOTS*TO*FILL project walking down Main Street Artesia, NM. All you need is a pair of boots or shoes that you are willing to donate and some positive words to inspire.

Please write inspirational words on the soles of any pair of boots or shoes that you're willing to give. If you can afford it, put a dollar, a dime, or any amount inside those shoes and bring them to the Derrick Floor on the corner of Main and Sixth Street at 10:00 a.m. on May 3. We plan to "walk" all boots (and shoes) in a parade of encouragement, stretching them as far as possible! Please donate your footwear, and help us go all the way.

If you are unable to participate on May 3, drop off your shoes/boots at the Artesia, NM, Chamber of Commerce or other boot collection locations that you will find publicized in the newspapers and on the radio. If the soles of your donated footwear are black, just write your words down on paper, put the paper in one of the shoes to be donated and bring the pair to the drop off center. We'll have white paint pens to inscribe the black soles. All donations will go toward Yaresli Salamanca's medical expense, but more importantly, the love inscribed on the soles of those shoes will be written on the heart of a little girl for all time.

Artesia Main Street, under the direction of Rebecca Prendergast and Rosemary Knorr, is planning an Art Walk & Shop Hop that day. The city is hosting live entertainment as well as a formal showing of winners in the student contest to illustrate GOOD TO GO. Downtown Artesia is the place to be at 10:00 a.m. May 3rd.
