Alamogordo — On Wednesday night in Alamogordo, the New Mexico Environment Department will join Souder, Miller & Associates to host a public workshop on the upcoming "Atari" Waste Excavation that will occur at the Old Alamogordo Landfill. The New Mexico Environment Department's Solid Waste Bureau & Groundwater Quality Bureau will be on hand to inform the public of the precautions in place to ensure environmental protection for the upcoming excavation. Souder, Miller & Associates project leaders will update the public operational plans related to the excavation. The "Atari" Waste Excavation is currently scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 26th.

This workshop is not considered a public hearing, as the Waste Excavation Plan for the Atari Dig has been approved. Given the publicity of the upcoming Atari Dig, the New Mexico Environment Department and Souder, Miller & Associates are welcoming the public to learn about the process and procedures in place to ensure both public and environmental safety. There will be a short question and answer session following the presentation.
