• US 70 CLOSURE scheduled for Friday June 6th from 8:55 a.m. until 9:55 a.m. the road block will stationed at the San Augustine Pass and White Sands National Monument. Nike Avenue, LC Gate, and Owen Road are also included in this block.

N. Main/US 70 Las Cruces
The NMDOT with G. Sandoval Construction has placed traffic control devices and concrete wall barriers along US 70 from Chestnut to just south of Solano Drive interchange. Motorists will encounter one lane restrictions for both east and westbound traffic, which is limited to 10 feet within the work zone. The contractor continues work along the median and on the inner lanes; speed limit is posted at 35 MPH.
Businesses along the corridor are open; please contact them for their hours of operation. Motorists may need to seek an alternate route, or make adjustments as their daily commute as travel time may increase due to heavy traffic on N. Main and other adjacent streets. Should an incident occur within the work zone and is not considered life threatening. Law enforcement is asking drivers to move their vehicles off onto a side road, or parking lot so that they can assess the situation in a controlled environment.

I-10/Mesquite & Vado Interchange
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One office and El The contractor has begun demolition of the old eastbound overpass. It will take approximately 6 months to complete full reconstruction of the bridge. The westbound demolition and reconstruction will follow once this portion of the bridge is complete.
Eastbound traffic is detoured onto the westbound lanes, where motorists will encounter lane restrictions for east and westbound traffic on I-10 from mile marker 150 to 155 (Vado exit). Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed and to proceed with caution during peak hours. Should an incident occur within the restricted area in which the concrete wall barrier is located, and is considered non-life threatening, law enforcement is requesting that drivers move their vehicles over to a safe location so that they can assist and assess the situation. This will allow the flow of traffic to continue safely.
All ramps will remain open during the demolition and reconstruction of the Mesquite Bridge. Motorists will be advised of the I-10 eastbound lane closure along with the bridge overpass. The public is encouraged to seek an alternate route as the bridge will remain closed until full reconstruction of the Mesquite overpass is complete.

I-25 Socorro & Sierra County
The NMDOT with Villalobos Construction continue with bridge rehabilitation work for three (3) separate bridges that cross over I-25. The first bridge is at NM-1 which is the Luis Lopez Bridge in Socorro. This bridge is CLOSED as of April 22nd where motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route. The CLOSURE will be in place for approximately 2 months.
The next bridge will be the San Marcial/exit 125 Bridge (Socorro County) with the I-25/exit 79 bridge in T or C (Sierra County) to be completed. The work at each bridge is scheduled to take approximately 2 months. The bridges will be CLOSED in segments as work is being conducted. Detours will be posted as work progresses from one to bridge to another.
The contractor has constructed crossovers on I-25 where traffic will be switched over in order for work to be conducted on the bridge overpass. Motorists will be advised of lane and speed restrictions. Please proceed with caution.

I-10/Avenida de Mesilla and NM-28 Las Cruces, NM
The District One office for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with La Calerita Construction continues construction at Avenida de Mesilla. The contractor has OPENED the westbound descending off ramp, and has closed the I-10 westbound on ramp at Avenida de Mesilla. All other ramps will remain open. Traffic will continue over the eastbound bridge until the westbound bridge is completely constructed.
Construction continues on Avenida de Mesilla with lane restrictions on NM-28/Avenida de Mesilla between Hickory Loop and Lakeside Drive, and on I-10 between Motel Boulevard and University Avenue. Motorists will be able to gain access to the City of Las Cruces and the Town of Mesilla at Motel Boulevard exit 139, or University Avenue exit 142 for both east and westbound I-10 traffic.

US 70 Las Cruces, NM
The NMDOT District One Office with Smith and Aguirre Construction has placed traffic control at the I-25/US 70 Interchange to Rinconada (exit 152). The contractor is removing median in order to place a concrete wall barrier structure. The contractor will be working within the inner lane as motorists will continue to have 2 lanes of open traffic for both directions.
The project working hours will be Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. until completion of September of 2014.

NM 51 East of Truth or Consequences, NM
NMDOT along with Meridian will continue work on a portion of NM-51 to improve the drainage channel by Ash Canyon. During working hours motorists may encounter minor delays, and are encouraged to adjust their schedule to accommodate their travels.

NM 51 Elephant Butt
The NMDOT with the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) will be working on NM 51 at mile marker 4. The BOR has a Rock Scaling Team that will be removing large rack and weathered debris from the cliffs. The NMDOT will be assisting with traffic control and removal of debris along NM 51 to secure a safe passage for the NMDOT. The project is scheduled to be complete on June 12 with working hours 7 am until 3 pm. The crew will not be working on Friday June 6th or on the weekend of June 7th and 8th.

NM 187 Hatch area
The NMDOT will be conducting maintenance operations along NM 187 from mile marker 33-36. Crews will be blade patching where motorists will encounter minor delays as flagman will be assisting with traffic control.

NM 159 Mogollon area
The NMDOT Maintenance Section will be conducting roadway repair work on NM 159 in the Mogollon area starting Monday June 2 and is scheduled to take approximately 9 weeks to complete. The crew members of the NMDOT will be rebuilding the road and removing debris on site which includes fallen trees, large rocks and scrubs. Traffic control notifications will be placed between mile marker 10 to 13.

Date Street/ Business Loop T or C, NM
The NMDOT with Sandoval Construction continue with ADA repair work along Date Street, which will have alerts posted throughout the work zone. The public is reminded to avoid entering restricted areas as heavy equipment will be is moving in and out of traffic.

Southern New Mexico Roadway Conditions Regarding Flooding
The following routes are still reported as CLOSED, or with limited access with one lane restrictions.
Catron County-
• NM-159 in Mogollon CLOSED due to roadway being washed out due to flooding and debris along the roadway. Repair work is scheduled to start June 2.


Las Cruces Projects – City of Las Cruces
Campo Street
From Texas Avenue to El Paseo Road will be closed to through traffic. Access to residents and business will be maintained. Motorists wanting to get to residents and businesses can do so by following the detours in place. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. Motorists using this road as a through route only should seek alternate routes if available.

Columbia Avenue
From Lunarridge Street to Highridge Street will be closed to through traffic. Access to residents will be maintained. Motorists wanting to get to residents can do so by following the detours in place. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. Motorists using this road as a through route only should seek alternate routes if available.

El Paseo Road
Open to through traffic.

Lunarridge Street
From Mars Avenue to Columbia Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Access to residents will be maintained. Motorists wanting to get to residents can do so by following the detours in place. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. Motorists using this road as a through route only should seek alternate routes if available.

Sonoma Ranch Blvd
From Monte Sombra to Thurmond Road will have shoulder work and potential lane closures. Access to residents will be maintained. Motorists wanting to get to residents can do so by following the detours in place. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. Motorists using this road as a through route only should seek alternate routes if available.

Thurmond Road
From McGuffey Road to Sonoma Ranch Blvd will have shoulder work and potential lane closures. Access to residents will be maintained. Motorists wanting to get to residents can do so by following the detours in place. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. Motorists using this road as a through route only should seek alternate routes if available.

Winton Court
From Winton Drive to the North End Cul-de-Sac will be closed to through traffic. Access to residents will be maintained. Motorists wanting to get to residents can do so by following the detours in place. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. Motorists using this road as a through route only should seek alternate routes if available.

Water Street
From Court Avenue to Las Cruces Avenue will have shoulder work and potential lane closures. Access to residents and businesses will be maintained. Motorists wanting to get to residents and businesses can do so by following the detours in place. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution. Motorists using this road as a through route only should seek alternate routes if available.
