SBA Presents Boots to Business: Reboot
A Free Two-Day Veterans' Entrepreneurship Training Course in Albuquerque

Native-American Veterans Encouraged to Attend

August 6 & 7 (8am-4:30pm Both Days)
Downtown Albuquerque/Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
2401 12th Street NW

(ALBUQUERQUE, NM)— Albuquerque is one of twelve cities in the U.S. selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to host an entrepreneurship training course for veterans or their spouses this summer.

Boots to Business: Reboot is a two-day event on August 6 & 7 at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, located at 2401 12th Street NW on the northern edge of downtown Albuquerque. The unique event takes place from 8am-4:30pm on both days.

The event is free for veterans and their spouses. But pre-registration is required. For more information about Boots to Business: Reboot and to register for the seminar, visit the Boots to Business website at www.boots2businessreboot.org. Locally, for information only (not pre-registration), veterans can also contact New Mexico Veterans Business Outreach Center Director Joe Long at joseph.long@state.nm.us or (505) 383-2401.

Boots to Business: Reboot is a nationwide effort led by representatives from the SBA's resource partners and industry experts from Syracuse University's Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). It is supported through the SBA's partnership with Syracuse University's IVMF.

Boots to Business: Reboot adapts the curriculum from the SBA's Boots to Business: From Service to Startup program--a training track within the Department of Defense's "Transition, Goals, Plans, Success" (Transition GPS) program focusing on a three-step program developed to introduce transitioning service members to small business ownership.

Veterans will learn how to evaluate business concepts, and effective strategies for developing a business plan. In addition, veterans will have a great opportunity to connect with local resource networks, as well as have an opportunity to take advantage of the counseling and training offered by the SBA's resource partner network, which include Veteran Business Outreach Centers, Women's Business Centers, Small Business Development Centers and SCORE.

Native-Americans Veterans Strongly Encouraged to Attend
The Boots to Business: Reboot course in Albuquerque on August 6-7 is the only one of the twelve SBA events to be held at a Native-American facility. Though it is open to all veterans and their spouses, Native American veterans are especially encouraged to attend. A special emphasis will be placed on assisting Native American veterans transitioning into the small business arena.

The Boots to Business: Reboot program kicked off at the White House on July 11, and will conclude on August 25-26 during the American Legion National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Other cities selected by the SBA for its Boots to Business: Reboot events are: Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Kansas City/Missouri, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

Nationwide, veterans own nearly 1 in 10 businesses that generate more than $1 trillion in sales annually. Each year the SBA helps more than 200,000 veterans, service-disabled veterans and reservists start and grow their small businesses.
