Logan, NM – You've been training all year. Swimming, biking, cardio....now you're ready to compete in Ute the Man! Sprint Triathlon – 2014, hosted by Ute Lake State Park on Saturday, August 2, with the first race wave beginning at 7:30 a.m.

"We are always happy to host athletic, community events at State Parks," said Park Superintendent Rodney Paris. "Participants not only get great exercise outdoors, they get to see more of the park and hopefully come back for more fun, outdoor recreation."

Register online at active.com or newmexicosportsonline.com by August 1, 2014. Registration is $50 for individuals; $75 for a relay team of 3 participants. The triathlon features an 800-meter open-water swim in the lake, a 13-mile bike ride and a 5K run out to Rodgers Park and back.

A barbeque for all participants, spectators and volunteers begins at 10:30 a.m. and the awards ceremony is at 11 a.m. The event is sponsored by the United Dairy Women of New Mexico, with proceeds going to a local children's home.

Ute Lake State Park regular day-use fees apply.

The State Parks Division offers FREE boating safety classes around the state and on-line throughout the year. Always make safety your number one priority—being prepared on the water and wearing lifejackets saves lives.
