Join us in honoring victims of substance-impaired crashes and their families, celebrating the lives of survivors, and walking together to envision a world free of DWI

LAS CRUCES: The New Mexico Department of Transportation along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will be holding a 5K on Saturday, September 6, 2014. The MADD program in New Mexico is one of the state's largest victim's service organizations where we are seeking walkers and runners for this annual Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash event. The event takes place every year to recognize the lives lost and injured because of drunk/drugged driving, and to raise awareness around the issue of drunk/drugged driving and underage drinking. The event is open to the community and includes a 5K walk and a certified 5K run along the Rio Grande River.

Substance-impaired driving is a 100% preventable crime affecting every community in our state. We are not satisfied with progress alone. Every day we work to eliminate DWI and prevent underage drinking through community awareness and education.

To participate in this year's Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash, visit www.walklikemadd.org/lascruces. If you're not able to join us in Las Cruces on Saturday, you can show your support by registering as a virtual walker. Proceeds from Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash stay in New Mexico, supporting programs that serve victims and prevent underage drinking.
