Meeting to be held in Santa Teresa, NM on Monday 15, 2014

Santa Fe, NM - The Legislative Jobs Council will meet in Santa Teresa, New Mexico on Monday, September 15, 2014 to focus on job creation efforts along the border and throughout south central New Mexico. The meeting will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Gadsden Administrative Complex, 4950 McNutt Road, in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. It is open to the public. 

Several speakers will present information on economic development in that region. They include Jerry Pacheco, Executive Director of the International Business Accelerator; Kevin Boberg, Associate Dean/Director for Research and Economic Development, NMSU College of Business; and Davin Lopez, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance.

In addition, members of the Interim Jobs Council will explore legislative initiatives for the 2015 legislative session, establish better operational and performance metrics for job creation, and report on statewide meetings with local Councils of Government to collect jobs-related data. The Interim Jobs Council was established in 2013 and is comprised of a bipartisan group of Legislators, executive cabinet secretaries, and private industry representatives who are trying to stimulate job growth in New Mexico. The Jobs Council is chaired by Speaker W. Ken Martinez (D-69 Bernalillo, Cibola, McKinley, Socorro, San Juan, Valencia) and Senate President Pro Tem Mary Kay Papen (D-38 Doña Ana).
