Washington, DC (Sept. 18, 2014) Congressman Steve Pearce released this statement after meeting with President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine in today's Joint Meeting of Congress.

"The people of Ukraine have shown bravery in the face of tyranny from outside forces. I'm proud to welcome President Poroshenko to the United States, and stand with him in his ongoing fight against Russian aggression," said Congressman Steve Pearce. "From the poisoning of their President-elect in 2004 to the violent repression of democratic protesters this year to the summer invasion by Russian forces, Ukraine has endured significant hardships even after the fall of communism. I pray the people of Ukraine will find freedom, peace and prosperity in the near future."
