With Frontier Field Services For Air Emissions Violations

(Santa Fe, N.M.) -- The New Mexico Environment Department has entered into a settlement agreement with Frontier Field Services, LLC to resolve alleged violations at the Empire Abo Gas Plant located in Eddy County. Alleged violations include exceeding permit limits for volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide on several occasions between July 2011 and December 2012; and flaring regeneration gas instead of rerouting it back into the process, from March 2012 through October 2012. The parties agreed to a settlement requiring a civil penalty payment of $938,291.68 to the State General Fund.

The alleged violations for exceeding permit limits were discovered through reports submitted to the agency as required by state regulation. The alleged violation for flaring regenerated gas was self-disclosed by the company. Frontier Field Services has taken corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of the violations.
