Santa Fe – New Mexico Environment Department Secretary Ryan Flynn is reminding state, county, and municipal leaders that electronic registration is due by close of business today for the 19th Annual New Mexico Infrastructure Finance Conference (NMIFC) on October 28-30 at Buffalo Thunder Resort in Pojoaque.

"Under the leadership of Governor Martinez, a total of $89 million of capital outlay funds were appropriated to communities all across New Mexico this fiscal year," says Secretary Ryan Flynn. "This conference will give community members opportunity to learn ways to get the most out of funds for water development. The discussions will also focus on how improved water sustainability directly leads to economic growth in communities."

The New Mexico Environment Department has been working with the New Mexico Economic Development Department to offer strategic ways for communities to use capital funds to improve local water infrastructure. NMIFC offers community representatives the opportunity to meet with key funding agency contacts, planners, designers, suppliers, architects and engineers that can answer questions and provide guidance as they bring their infrastructure projects to reality. Conference participants will include up to 400 local municipalities, government planners, legislators, federal agencies, special districts, tribes and pueblos, private organizations and New Mexico businesses.

Last Legislative Session, Governor Susana Martinez signed into law $89 million for water infrastructure upgrades and has called for capital outlay reform to help fund large-scale infrastructure projects that will stimulate economic development, grow jobs and improve quality of life for New Mexico residents. The theme of this year's conference is "Building a Sustainable Foundation for Our Future." New Mexico Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez will serve as this year's opening speaker.

ELECTRONIC REGISTRATION is DUE BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS TODAY. To register, visit http://www.ifc.state.nm.us/. On-site registration will be available at the conference.
