Beginners Blacksmith Workshop
Wednesdays (Feb. 4, 11, 18)
Thursdays (Feb. 5, 12, 19)
Learn the basic techniques of traditional iron and steel smithing in the Museum's blacksmith shop. This nine-hour course, taught over three consecutive weeks by one of the Museum's experienced blacksmiths, will provide you with the essential skills required to forge tools.
Class attendees will fashion and take home five useful items (valued at over $125). Class size is limited to three at a time. The cost is $150 plus a $15 materials fee. A $50 non-refundable reservation fee is required to hold a space in a class. Full payment is due two weeks prior to the first class. For more information, please call (575) 522-4100.

Crafts for Kids
Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Children of all ages are invited to come by the Museum and create their own Valentine's Day crafts to take home. Regular museum admission is required for all family members: $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for children 5 to 17, and free admission for children 4 and under.

Cowboy mounted shooting
Feb. 7, 12-2 p.m.
Riders from the Borderland Pistoleros will practice and compete at the Museum's roping arena. Come enjoy watching the fast-growing sport of cowboy mounted shooting as competitors ride and shoot balloons with "blank" ammunition. Regular Museum admission is required to watch.

Culture Series: Hell-Raising Texans and Cattle Outfits along New Mexico's Northern Border
Feb. 12, 7 p.m.
Michael Maddox who lives in Flora Vista, N.M., near Farmington is the author of Porter and Ike Stockton: Colorado and New Mexico Border Outlaws. He will sign copies of the book at the lecture. During the 1860s and 1870s, Texas cattlemen and their cattle surged into Colfax County. Texas cowboys like Clay Allison and the Stockton brothers would make Cimarron one of the wildest towns in the American west. Admission is a suggested donation of $2.

The Museum Rocks! Gem & Mineral Show
Feb. 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Feb. 22, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This third-annual event is sponsored by the Friends of the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum and features more than 60 vendors from throughout the Southwest. 16th Annual Cowboy Days
March 7-8
The Museum's largest event of the year features cowboy demonstrations, music, chuck wagon cooking, cowboy mounted shooting, living history, gunfight-re-enactments, stagecoach and horseback rides, many children's activities and more. Among the new activities this year will be a Cowboy Dinner & Dance on Saturday night, March 7. Call the Museum for tickets to this fun evening event.
