Public Meeting Scheduled for March 12, 2015

Angel Fire, NM - New Mexico State Parks invites citizens to a public meeting to comment on the draft park management plan for Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park. The plan includes a review of existing park resources and proposes improvements for the next five years.

Copies of the draft plan are available for review at:

1) the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park visitor center (located off of Highway 64 on Country Club Road, Angel Fire, NM 87710);
2) the State Parks Division regional office at 612 E. Main St., Tucumcari, NM 88401; or
3) the State Parks Division website at www.nmparks.com.

The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 12th, 2015 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park in the visitor center conference room. Verbal comments on the draft plan will be accepted at the public meeting. Anyone interested in providing written public comments may do so no later than March 31st, 2015 by submitting them to:

3) E-mailed to nmparks@state.nm.us (Subject: Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plan).

The plan proposes a variety of improvements to Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park. Recommendations include upgrades to exhibits and programs, improvements to the visitor center, and the addition of a group shelter and restroom facilities near the main parking lot.

The objective of a management plan is to provide direction for the management and development of the park to protect park resources and enhance recreational opportunities.
