The first meeting for this region was held in August 2014 to introduce how the ISC was revitalizing efforts to update regional water plans and the type of support that would be given to regions in this effort. We are now returning to present the technical platform that will be the foundation for the update.

The Interstate Stream Commission team has scheduled a meeting with the Southwest Region stakeholders on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Deming City Council Chambers, 309 So. Gold Avenue in Deming, NM from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

The purpose of the RWP meeting is to:
1) finalize the steering committee membership and discuss responsibilities;
2) review the preliminary results of the technical update; and
3) brief the steering committee/stakeholders on the ISC process for providing support to the regions in Phase II of the update, which is focused on identifying projects, programs and policies and finalizing the updated plan.

The updated handbook outlines the approach for steering committee formation. For certain categories, such as government or business representatives, there may be several representatives of county, municipal and even state government. Likewise different industry reps and water providers could also be on the steering committee. The goal is to have a functional committee staffed by the appropriate individuals who can make decisions about and implement projects, policies or programs.
