Santa Fe, New Mexico - At the NMAC 79th Annual Conference on June 18, 2015 in Albuquerque, the New Mexico Association of Counties (NMAC) presented Chaves County with a Risk Awareness Program (RAP) Award in recognition of its achievement in reducing county claims during 2015. The award is offered through NMAC's RAP, a workplace risk control educational program that aims to reduce the frequency and severity of county claims through better risk awareness and safety practices.

During 2015, Chaves County completed year 4 and reduced Workers' Compensation claims by 12% and Law Enforcement claims by 31%. NMAC Risk Management Director, Taylor Horst, said "Chaves County's commitment to safety awareness participation in the Risk Awareness Program has resulted in not only making the workplace safer but has reduced costs to the community. The leadership and employees of Chaves County are to be commended for their hard work."
