Effective October 1, 2015, the National Hispanic Cultural Center Library and History and Literary Arts Building will be open to the public on Wednesday, Friday and for Saturday public programming only as announced. Regular hours for the Library and Building are expected to resume on November 2, 2015. The reduced hours are intended to ensure public access to the Library, a community resource treasure, despite current, unexpected shortages in staff. The reduced hours will also allow for much needed building repair to the floors and walls.

During its reduced hours, the Library, and the History and Literary Arts Building within which it is located, will be staffed with trained librarians from the State Library Division, as well as by Claudia Gallardo de Campbell, Chief Operating Officer and Protocol Officer for Department of Cultural Affairs. History and Literary Arts Programming will continue to be overseen by Elsa Menendez, Education Program Director for the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Any questions regarding the Library and History and Literary Arts Building's reduced hours and planned re-opening should be directed to Rebecca L. Avitia, Executive Director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, at rebecca.avitia@state.nm.us.
