Washington, DC (September 28, 2016) - Today, the House passed H.R. 5303, the Water Resources Development Act, a bill that provides federal infrastructure support for our harbors, locks, dams, flood protection, and other water resources infrastructure. Following its passage, Congressman Pearce issued the following statement:

"Having strong and reliable water resources infrastructure is crucial to our nation's business supply chain and global economic competiveness. Over 40 million jobs are related to international trade and $321 billion in federal, state, and local tax revenue is generated by our ports every year. Whether it is New Mexico energy being shipped overseas, or pecans, and other agricultural products, New Mexico businesses and jobs benefit from strong water resource infrastructure. Today, I supported commonsense, bipartisan legislation that will provide funding for projects that will strengthen this critical infrastructure, while creating new projects that will improve flood protection nationwide. We must responsibly invest in our nation's infrastructure to foster economic growth in New Mexico and across the nation," said Congressman Pearce.
