Danny Monette RSL to R: NMAC President Tyler Massey, Socorro County Commissioner Danny Monette, and NMAC Executive Director Steve KopelmanRodeo, New Mexico - The prestigious NMAC Glass Flame Award was presented by the NMAC Board of Directors to Socorro County Commissioner Danny Monette, for his contributions to improve the quality of life in New Mexico for all citizens, at the NMAC Board of Directors dinner in Rodeo, New Mexico, on Thursday, October 13, 2016. The Glass Flame Award is given in recognition of members' outstanding leadership and dedication to NMAC and the people of New Mexico.

Danny Monette, who is departing NMAC's Board of Directors, received the Glass Flame Award for his years of devoted service to NMAC and the counties it serves. NMAC's Board of Directors is a governing body essential to identifying and advancing NMAC's policy initiatives on behalf of New Mexico's 33 counties.

Monette is completing his second term as the Socorro County Commissioner. He served on the NMAC Board of Directors since 2011, on the NMAC Executive Committee, as the National Association of Counties Western Interstate Region Representative, and as the Chair of the NMAC Public Land and Natural Resources Policy Committee. "Commissioner Monette played a major role in advancing and professionalizing county government in Socorro County," said Steve Kopelman NMAC Executive Director. "He has been an invaluable member of the New Mexico Association of Counties' Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and his innovative approach to solving challenging issues was always appreciated." Danny Monette said, "It has been an honor and privilege serving on the Board. Being part of this group, which has so much to do with state government, has been very educational."
