L to R: NMAC Executive Director Steve Kopelman, Santa Fe County Commissioner Liz Stefanics, and NMAC President Tyler MasseyRodeo, New Mexico - The prestigious NMAC Glass Flame Award was presented by the NMAC Board of Directors to Santa Fe County Commissioner Liz Stefanics, for her contributions to improve the quality of life in New Mexico for all citizens, at the NMAC Board of Directors dinner in Rodeo, New Mexico, on Thursday, October 13, 2016. The Glass Flame Award is given in recognition of members' outstanding leadership and dedication to NMAC and the people of New Mexico.

Liz Stefanics, who is departing NMAC's Board of Directors, received the Glass Flame Award for her years of devoted service to NMAC and the counties it serves. NMAC's Board of Directors is a governing body essential to identifying and advancing NMAC's policy initiatives on behalf of New Mexico's 33 counties.

Stefanics is completing her second term as the Santa Fe County Commissioner. She served on the NMAC Board of Directors since 2011, on the NMAC Executive Committee, as the National Association of Counties Board Representative, and as the Chair of the NMAC Healthcare Policy Committee. "Commissioner Stefanics is an extremely effective and highly respected member of the board and executive committee," said Steve Kopelman NMAC Executive Director. "She did an exceptional job in chairing the Healthcare Policy Committee, and she played an integral role in establishing NMAC policy in a number of areas." Liz Stefanics said, "Being part of NMAC has been extremely rewarding. Communication will all counties around the state helps one gain perspective on how important it is to protect local authority."
