The New Mexico State University Rodeo Team and longtime rodeo team supporter Frank DuBois will host the second Cowboy Reunion Oct. 28 and 29, for all past and present rodeo team members.

The first Cowboy Reunion was held in April 2015 in conjunction with the NMSU Rodeo. DuBois said he was approached by several former classmates, all within several months, with the idea of having a reunion. DuBois said that with a push and shove from them, they put together the first reunion and 109 people attended.

"We're excited for this year's event. Part of planning for the future, is knowing where you've been," said NMSU Rodeo Coach Logan Corbett. "I look forward to meeting the people who have impacted the NMSU Rodeo Program since its inception in 1942."

This year's reunion has events for alumni and friends that support NMSU Rodeo, as well as events open to the public.

The Cowboy Reunion starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, with the costume bronc riding contest and Halloween festivities. This event is free to the public and will be at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds.

Saturday, Oct. 29, will begin with the Cowboys, Cocktails and Chow Barbecue from 12 to 5 p.m. at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The Frank DuBois award will be presented followed by a silent and live auction, and lunch service continuing until 2 p.m. "Firewater and campfire talk" will follow, until 5 p.m. Reserved table sponsors for the luncheon are $750 and limited quantities are available. Registration is required for this event and may be done online or by calling Heather Richman at 575-646-6495.

"The DuBois Award is an original Curtis Fort bronze presented each year to the all-around cowboy and cowgirl at NMSU," DuBois said. "The award goes to the athletes who have scored the most National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association points in more than one event."

The Frank DuBois Bronc Ridin' and Calf Ropin' will begin at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 per person. The event is free for children under 12 and NMSU students who present their student ID. Many NMSU team members will be competing against Professional Rodeo Cowboys from across the country.

The reunion will conclude with a concert and dance featuring The Delk Band with a special appearance by Livewater, from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, at the Budweiser Pavilion on the fairgrounds. Tickets for this event are $10 per person and can be purchased at the door.

All proceeds from this weekend will benefit the NMSU Rodeo Program and the Frank DuBois Rodeo Scholarship.
