SF Film Festival RSSanta Fe, N.M. - Director, Maggie Greenwald's (The Ballad of Little Jo and Songcatcher) latest film, Sophie and the Rising Sun, transports audiences to Salty Creek, South Carolina, in the Autumn of 1941, to tell a story about two interracial lovers swept up in the tides of history. As World War II rages in Europe, Mr. Ohta (Takashi Yamaguchi), appears in the town badly beaten and under mysterious circumstances. Sophie, a native of Salty Creek, becomes transfixed by Mr.Ohta and soon their relationship evolves into a courtship, countering a surge of misguided patriotism, bigotry, and violence following the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Come be a part of this film's official opening night, December 7, at 7pm at the Jean Cocteau Theater. Actor, Takashi Yamaguchi will be in attendance along with producers of the film for an in-depth Q&A following the premiere.
