Emma Salinas rsEmma De La Garza Salinas, 83, a longtime resident of Lordsburg passed away Wednesday December 28, 2016 in the comfort of her home.

Emma was born December 6, 1933 in Lordsburg to Jose and Josephine (Ferguson) De La Garza. She was a homemaker and her family remembers her as being a great cook who not only cooked for her family but enjoyed cooking for many others.

Emma was an avid Cowboys fan and at one time she lived in Louisiana and Indiana where she still has many close friends. Her greatest attribute to her life was that she was always a devoted Christian. She sang many church specials and could always be counted on as a prayer warrior.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lisandro T. Salinas Sr. of Lordsburg; her children, Rose Mary Salinas of Las Cruces, Lisandro "Ali" Salinas Jr. of Lordsburg, Mona Lisa Saenz, (David) of Lordsburg, Nicholas Salinas (Tracy) of Sellersburg, IN, Baltazar Salinas (Priscilla) of Lordsburg, Sarah Sue Gastelum of Tucson, AZ, Joseph J. Salinas (Christina) of Tucson, AZ, and Abraham Salinas (Lisa) of Bagdad, AZ; 28 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; siblings, Rito De La Garza and Ramona Daily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Joe, 2 sisters, Agnes and Rosie, and 1 grandson, Abraham.

A graveside service will be Saturday January 7, 2017 at 10 o'clock in the morning at Shakespeare Cemetery with Brother Doug Baker officiating. Cremation has taken place at Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
