Santa Fe, New Mexico - The Adult Misdemeanor Compliance Accreditation Professional Standards Council (AMCAPC) awarded to Sandoval County a three (3) year Certificate of Accreditation at the New Mexico Association of Counties (NMAC) 2017 Legislative Conference on January 19, 2017 in Santa Fe, NM.

A joint initiative of New Mexico Association of Counties and the New Mexico Municipal League is to serve as the professional organization and to develop and ensure a system of uniform standards for state-wide the Misdemeanor Compliance Programs based upon valid, reliable research, and exemplary probation practices. In guiding and assisting agencies through a process of accreditation, Adult Misdemeanor Compliance Accreditation Program promotes socially responsible and humane probation supervision policies and practices; sound public policies; adherence to the ethics within the justice profession; excellence in professional development, innovation, and education; and fostering integral relationships with the communities served.

Sandoval County Adult Misdemeanor Compliance Program Director commented "This accreditation has been achieved through a series of reviews, evaluations, audits and drafting of policies and procedures by the Accreditation Manager, Court Compliance Officers and Administrative Assistant over the past 2 years. The accreditation process requires an in-depth review of program administration, goals, forms, policies and procedures. Accreditation sets the bar higher for every staff member in terms of professional expectation. Additionally, accreditation lends credibility to programs seeking funding from state agencies and other grantors by establishing a clear indication of program stability and attention to industry best practices. As such, accreditation offers a boost in citizens' understanding of and confidence in the agency mission, policies, practices and professionalism. I would like to thank the staff for their commitment to excellence and the County Manager, Phil Rios, as well as the County Commissioners for their support throughout this process.Gǥ
