Have a "Spring Fling"

with Bisbee After 5

In Bisbee, AZ, we're married to the idea that art is a way of life, and this month's artwalk is no exception. On Saturday, April 8, 2017, you can find "Something Old" (an Anniversary), "Something New" (a gallery on the Gulch!), "Something Borrowed" (reclaimed circuit boards), and "Something Blues" (CatDaddy at the Grand). The weather should be perfect for a "Spring Fling" stroll among the galleries and shops of Old Bisbee, as the town stays open late until 8 pm. Be inspired every second Saturday on the Bisbee After 5 artwalk, and fall in love with Bisbee's charm, too. Here's what you can expect to find this month:

Brewery Gulch has a NEW GALLERY!

Events & Openings

"Spring Fling" is a time for New Beginnings. Come see what's new for art on the Gulch, and celebrate the opening of the Sense of Place Gallery.  Located at 63C Brewery Ave., the gallery features Bisbee plein air landscapes by Carol Chandler and whimsical, functional ceramic work by Beth Sabghir.

Archie Sutton's exhibition "Inner Doors" opens at the Tang Gallery on Saturday, April 8th. Sutton says, "My main body of work is an application of copper coupled to doors.  I work with sheet copper, circuit board, found objects, resin, and a mix of mediums applied on and into interior doors. I am attracted to the allegory that these doors were created to open to a place inside.  I use liquid plastic, vinyl, plaster and copper.  I am also drawn to copper, having collected pennies as a child. Each piece has up to four pounds of copper, treated with elements such as sulfurated potash and ammonium chloride to create a patina on the surface. These works are then inlaid into doors."

Archie Sutton is an Air Force veteran who made a permanent detour into art in 2007.  He has exhibited in Tracy, California, in Tubac, at the Tang Gallery in Bisbee, at the Old Pueblo Gallery in Tucson, and was named "Artist of the Month" at the Gallery of Dreams in St. David, Arizona. He was also commissioned to create a twenty-foot copper sculpture of a flag on a curved wall in the Veteran's Memorial Hall at the new Canyon Vista hospital in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Join the artist and friends at the Tang Gallery, 32 Main, for the opening reception from 4 to 7 pm.
Join all of us in Old Bisbee for "Alice in Bisbeeland" April 20-23rd! Be sure to stop by Bisbee Bon Bon, 95 Main, on Saturday, April 22nd for an "Altered Tea Party" with libations of "Drink Me", confections of "Eat Me" and Nicole Welch, the "AlterGirl," with Artistically Fierce Fashions!
