SANTA FE, NM - The New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) is pleased to present the 39th Annual Conference on Aging which will be held August 15 and 16 at the Isleta Resort & Casino Conference Center. It is the only integrated conference for older adults, family caregivers, advocates, policy makers and service providers throughout New Mexico.
The Conference on Aging is a collaborative effort between consumers, community-based service providers, and ALTSD. Informative educational programs, meaningful exhibits, and stimulating speakers will be featured at the conference. The theme for the 2017 conference is "Supporting Active Aging: Today - Tomorrow - Beyond".
Registration for the conference is now available online at https://www.coa.nmaging.state.nm.us/. Pre-registration will be accepted until Monday, August 7.
Participants are also encouraged to take an active role in the conference. There are multiple ways to get involved:
- Present a workshop - The cornerstone of the conference is its numerous and varied educational workshops. The conference is a prime opportunity for older adults and the professionals who work with them to learn about current issues and trends. Workshop topics include professional development, wellness and health promotion, positive aging, services and supports, and economic security. Individuals interested in presenting at the conference must submit a proposal by Monday, April 24. For more details, see the Call for Partners.
- Submit Poster Artwork - The conference planning committee is seeking submissions of artwork to be used for the 2017 Conference on Aging poster. Artwork must be relevant to the conference theme. Submissions must be received by Monday, May 8. For detailed requirements, see the 2017 Poster Contest.
- Submit an Aging & Community Service Award Nomination - Nominations are being accepted for awards recognizing individuals, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions to benefit our state, local communities, and older New Mexicans. Award winners will be recognized during the conference. Nominations are due by Friday, June 2.
