Washington, DC (July 19, 2017) The U.S. House of Representatives today passed two key bills to modernize U.S. energy infrastructure.

"New Mexico is a national leader in resource production and a key player in the transportation of energy resources across the southern border. By simplifying regulations on energy infrastructure projects and putting sound provisions in place that promote efficiency and transparency, our communities will have greater opportunities for economic expansion," stated Rep. Pearce. "Southeastern New Mexico has seen huge growth in oil and gas production, creating more jobs and increasing revenues to the state. However, modern infrastructure needed to support this production is being delayed due to the lengthy bureaucratic processes, resulting in increased flaring activity. The House actions today provide essential reforms that bring greater certainty to companies that are tasked with improving our energy infrastructure. With these actions today, our nation is closer to an ‘all of the above' energy plan that stimulates job growth and reinvests in New Mexico's resource production."

H.R. 2883, the Promoting Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure Act, establishes guidelines for the construction, connection, operation, and maintenance of international border-crossing facilities. H.R. 2910, the Promoting Interagency Coordination for Review of Natural Gas Pipelines Act, reduces the bureaucracy within the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to promote timeliness and efficient reviews of infrastructure projects.
