Followed by training sessions for procurement professionals and local businesses to increase participation of New Mexico businesses

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – State Auditor Tim Keller will release a Statewide Procurement Report covering both state and local government contracting. The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) reviewed over 6,000 government contracts totaling over $6.5 billion to analyze trends in purchasing dollars flowing out of state. This is the first report that provides a snapshot to the public and policymakers of in-state and out-of-state purchasing by state agencies and over 400 municipalities, counties, and school districts.

Awarding more government contracts to local businesses would create local jobs and strengthen local economies. Many of the contracts to out-of-state firms were non-competitive “sole source” purchases, never giving local firms a shot. The presentation of the report will be followed by networking and training opportunities for procurement professionals and local businesses.
