WASHINGTON, D.C – U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) introduced the Education for Jobs Act as part of the Make It In America Plan launched by House Democrats. The bill reduces the job skills gap by expanding eligibility for the federal student loan program to include students who are enrolled in a degree or certificate program, are carrying at least three credit hours, and have worked full time for 10 years.

"Too many families feel left behind and struggle to get ahead. My bill will remove financial barriers so Americans can obtain the skills they need to increase their pay, be more productive, and qualify for better jobs. Increasing access to a quality education will not only ensure that working professionals have every opportunity to succeed in today's changing economy, but also ensure that businesses have access to the workforce they need to grow the economy and create jobs."
