Washington, DC (June 12, 2018) Recently, Congressman Steve Pearce received the American Agri-Women (AAW) 2018 Champion of Agriculture Award. This award is presented annually to one Senator and one Member of Congress for standing up and promoting America's agriculture industry.

"I am truly honored to receive the Champions of Agriculture award," said Pearce. "My respect and admiration for the agriculture industry started at an early age from working on my family farm and participating and competing in 4-H programs. The agriculture industry optimizes the American spirit. These dedicated individuals not only ensure our nation has the food we need, but protect and preserve the rich agriculture heritage that we in New Mexico hold so dear. Thank you to every member of AAW for their commitment to promoting their industry, and for this great honor."

Background:
The American Agri-Women Champion of Agriculture Award was established in 2010. According to AAW, the award is presented annually to Members of Congress who display exemplary courage in presenting and supporting legislation that promotes American agriculture, rural American lifestyles, and the United States Constitution.

AAW was founded in 1974. The group includes more than 50 states and commodity affiliate organizations as participating members. In all, the group represents and supports tens of thousands of women in agriculture through legislative fly-ins and national conventions.
