Washington, DC – Congressman Pearce weighs in on the Executive Order signed by President Trump on the decision to keep families who are crossing the border together:

"We must treat families with respect and dignity and today's Executive Order was a step in that direction. No more excuses. Congress must come together and act to permanently secure our border and fix our broken immigration system. We must take this opportunity to set our nation on a better course right now."

Background:
The Executive Order deals with the separation of families. The Order states that the administration will house families together with all available resources necessary, while a parent's criminal proceedings are going forward. It also calls for the Secretary of Defense to take all legally available measure to provide, upon request, facilities to house and care for alien families. Where there are deficiencies they will work to create more space.
