(Photo courtesy NMDA)(Las Cruces, New Mexico) – Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 20: The New Mexico Department of Agriculture and New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences are hosting AG Day for the sixth consecutive year.

The family friendly street fair will be held prior to the NMSU vs. Georgia Southern football game. AG Day is from 12 to 4 p.m. in the Pan American Center south parking lot adjacent to Aggie Memorial Stadium on the NMSU campus, and admission is free. This year’s AG Day is sponsored by New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau and Farm Bureau Financial Services.

Kickoff for the football game is at 4 p.m.

Aggie fans can expect over 50 booths representing numerous NMSU groups, as well as businesses and organizations from New Mexico’s agriculture community, at AG Day. The event will feature farm animals, educational exhibits, games, prizes, live music and samples of New Mexico-made food.

A highlight of the event is a performance by musician Chris Baker from 1 to 3 p.m.

This year AG Day is partnering with the Las Cruces Country Music Festival, which takes place Friday, Oct. 19 to Sunday, Oct. 21. After the football game, fans are encouraged to head to the Hadley Complex for some great music.

New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte invites everyone to enjoy AG Day before cheering on the Aggies to victory.

“AG Day is an amazing opportunity for Aggie fans and members of the agriculture community to come together and celebrate the long-standing tradition of New Mexico agriculture,” said Witte. “I invite everyone to join in the fun and learn more about one of the most important industries in our state.”

Aggie football tickets may be purchased in advance for $10 when you mention “AG Day.” For ticket information, call 575-646-1420.
