Cibola County, NM – On October 31, 2018 the New Mexico State Police Uniform Bureau and Investigations Bureau were called to investigate allegations of criminal sexual penetration of a juvenile against Edwin Mariano (40) of Grants, NM. 

Through an extensive investigation, State Police agents learned the victim resided in the home with Mariano. During the investigation the juvenile disclosed that Mariano gave her alcohol and sexually assaulted her.

On November 1, 2018 State Police officers were able to locate and successfully arrest Edwin Mariano without incident in Grants.  He was booked into the Cibola County Detention Center on the following charges:

Criminal sexual penetration of a minor, 2nd degree felonyContributing to the delinquency of a minor, 4th degree felonySelling or giving alcoholic beverages to a minor, 4th degree felonyDriving with a suspended revoked driver’s license, misdemeanor

Mariano was booked on a no bond hold.  The identity of the child will not be released by State Police. No additional information is currently available.
