Eddy County, NM– On April 19, 2019 at about 8:00 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a double fatal head-on crash involving two vehicles on NM Highway 128, near Mile Post 15, east of Loving, NM.  

The initial investigation indicated a 2007 Hyundai driven by R.A. Steve Stephens (19) of Trinity, TX was traveling east on NM Highway 128. For unknown reasons the Hyundai drifted into oncoming traffic on the westbound lane and collided head on with a 2018 Ford F-250 that was traveling west. The Ford F-250 was driven by Anthony Robert Capetillo (47) of McAllen, TX. 

The drivers of Hyundai and Ford F-250 sustained fatal injuries and were both pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. 

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash and seatbelts appear to have not been utilized. No other additional information is currently available.
