The Patterson Fire burning on private land in Chaves County is currently 30% contained and estimated at 780 acres. Bottomless Lakes State Park reopened to the public for day use this morning (05/18) at 11:00 a.m. Structures along the east side of the Pecos River remain threatened and one home is still under an evacuation order as a precaution. Fire crews are mopping up hot spots and strengthening containment lines. Interior fuels will continue to produce smoke that will be seen from the surrounding area.
