LOS LUNAS, NM—New Mexico Representative Kelly Fajardo (R-Los Lunas) has been selected by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) to serve on the organization’s Legislator Nominating Committee. With this appointment, Fajardo will help select the group’s leaders and guide its future direction.

NCSL is a national organization that supports and informs state legislatures on policy issues and legislative procedures. The bipartisan organization was established in 1975 to improve the operations and effectiveness of state legislatures through policy research, professional development, and the exchange of best practices. NCSL’s membership includes over 7,000 state lawmakers and 30,000 legislative staff.

Fajardo joins a select group of twelve legislators on NCSL’s Legislator Nominating Committee. The committee plays a central role in shaping the organization’s operations and governance. The group is responsible for selecting the next Vice President of NCSL and filling the at-large vacancies on the NCSL Executive Committee.

The committee is equally divided between Republicans and Democrats. The twelve committee members are drawn from each of NCSL’s four regional areas.

“It’s an honor to be named as one of the twelve legislators selected for NCSL’s Legislator Nominating Committee,” said Fajardo. “I’ve been involved with NCSL since my first year as a state representative. Their resources and networks help state legislators share information and serve our constituents more effectively. I appreciate the confidence they have placed in me by asking me to serve on this committee.”

Fajardo has been an active member of NCSL since 2013. She currently sits on NCSL’s Task Force on Cybersecurity as well as its Communications, Financial Services & Interstate Commerce Committee.
