Los Alamos, New Mexico (October 15, 2019)—Winter in northern New Mexico brings cooler weather, but in Los Alamos, that also means it’s the season for high altitude outdoor adventures. From snowshoeing and hiking to skiing and skating, Los Alamos has winter recreation opportunities for visitors of all ages, skill levels and interests.

In winter months, our culture of high altitude recreation continues to thrive, and we invite all to come experience the thrills of staying active and getting outdoors this winter.”

The gateway to three National Parks, Los Alamos is ideal for history lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Throughout the winter months, the three National Parks—Bandelier National Monument, Valles Caldera National Preserve and Manhattan Project National Historical Park—offer a unique opportunity to explore the outdoors and immerse yourself in both the natural landscapes and history of the area. Bundle up for a walking tour or a hike through Manhattan Project or Bandelier, or head to Valles Caldera for a snowshoeing or cross-country skiing adventure—either on developed trails or through the backcountry.
