Energy saving program saves customers money and electricity

(Albuquerque, N.M.) – As temperatures hit one hundred-degrees this week, air conditioners are working overtime, but PNM is stepping in to help New Mexicans save money on the cost of a new air conditioner if yours needs replacement.  Swamp coolers and refrigerated air conditioners seem to go out at the least-convenient time, often leaving homeowners facing an unexpected expense of purchasing a new one. Now, PNM is offering some relief by giving customers up to $400 back on the cost of new energy efficient cooling units.

“We know that suddenly having to replace a high-dollar item like a new air conditioner for your home during the hottest time of the year may be difficult,” said Melissa Leymon, manager of PNM customer programs. “But knowing PNM will give you up to four hundred dollars back as you stand in the store looking at the price tag can really bring some needed relief, especially during a time when every penny counts.”

PNM is offering up to $400 back for energy efficiency refrigerated air conditioning units and up to $300 back for energy efficient evaporative coolers, sometimes called swamp coolers. Some window-mounted units and room air conditioning units are also included. If a cooling unit was already installed in the last sixty days, PNM may be able to provide the rebate with proof of the purchase. Visit PNM.com/coolrebatefor a complete list of cooling units that qualify. For tips and programs that help save energy and money on electric bills, visit PNM.com/save.
