In all construction zones, motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, as well as continue to be cautious of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area. PLEASE NOTE: Conditions are subject to change without notice. Double fines for speeding in work zones may be in effect.

Traffic updates are posted on the NMDOT traffic advisory web-site at http://nmroads.com and can be retrieved through our automated system at 511 in New Mexico or 1-800-432-4269 from any line.November 2, 2020 US 70 is scheduled to be blocked beginning at 2:40 a.m. This block will last approximately one hour. 

The roadblock will be located at Blue Block (Mile Marker 172 / 2 miles east of Owen Road) and Yellow Block (Mile Marker 200 / Entrance to White Sands National Park). Nike Avenue will be affected. The Las Cruces Gate and the San Augustin Pass will remain open. 

Interstates: 

I-25 & University Ave, Mile Marker 1, Las Cruces

La Calerita Construction, LLC (Contractor) will be continuing roadwork on I-25 and University Ave. Crews are continuing installation of foundations for overhead signs. The right lane of southbound I-25 is closed from Missouri to north of the I-25 University Bridge. The left lane of northbound I-25 is closed from north of the I-25 University Bridge for about 1,500 feet for installation of foundations for overhead signs through the end of this week. The I-25 northbound loop ramp is closed for traffic safety. Both eastbound and westbound traffic on University Avenue can access northbound I-25 from the on-ramp at the traffic signal.

Triviz Drive is closed between the University intersection and Wisconsin for construction of the north roundabout and installation of water and gas lines. Traffic is detoured to Missouri, Solano Drive, then back to University Avenue. Access will be maintained to the hotels and the Plaza from Locust to Wisconsin. 

South Triviz Drive is closed from Arrowhead Drive to Stewart Street so crews can work on the south roundabout. Regular work hours will be Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, traffic control will remain in place 24/7. Questions or concerns: visit www.i25-university.com.  

I-25, Mile Marker 59 to 72, T or C 

J-H Supply, Inc. (Contractor) will be replacing the guardrail and end treatments along I-25 in Sierra County. Traffic can expect lane closures in the northbound and southbound driving right lane and shoulder as the contractor is performing these safety improvements. Overnight lanes closures can be expected between milepost 59 and 64. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by winter 2020.  

I-10, Mile Marker 19 to 24, Lordsburg  

Mountain States Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) will begin a pavement preservation project through Lordsburg on I-10 for the westbound lanes and several on/off ramps.  Traffic can expect various daytime lane closures as well as overnight lane closures as needed on the ramps at milepost 20 (Lordsburg East), milepost 24 and the visitor center. Contractors' hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed spring of 2021. 

I-10, Mile Marker 44 to 55, between Deming and Lordsburg  

Mountain States Construction, Inc. (Contractor) has begun a pavement preservation project on I-10 from milepost 44 to milepost 55 (Quincy).  Traffic can expect various daytime lane closures on the westbound lanes as well as overnight lane closures as needed. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed fall of 2020. 

I-25, Business Loop, Socorro, CN

Structures Inc., (Contractor) will be continuing with construction on the I-25 Business Loop in Socorro. The Socorro North exit 150 off ramp will be closed for bridge deck repairs. Please follow construction detour signage. Use caution as the contractor will be placing rip rap on slope shoulders, lane closure will be in place as needed on I-25. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. 

I-10, Mile Marker 49, Deming Area

Kimo Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) will be continuing bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction on NM 146 “Hatchita Bridge” at I-10 milepost 49. The Bridge is CLOSED; detour will be in place on the frontage road, Separ exit 42 and frontage road, Quincy exit 55. Traffic is currently on the outside lanes both eastbound and westbound with the inside lanes closed. An 11 foot width restriction will be in place. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

US Roadways:

US 70, Mile Marker 150, Las Cruces

Hasse Contracting Co., (Contractor) will have a ramp closures in effect on US 70 on the westbound US 70 to southbound I-25 for bridge deck repairs. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph for the safety of the crew. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Project is expected to be completed by November 13, 2020.

US 180, Mile Marker 120 to 123, Santa Clara

James Hamilton Construction Company (Contractor) has begun the installation of the pedestrian trail to included lighting, signage and crosswalk. US 180 will have a lane closures on the eastbound and westbound right driving lanes with a reduced speed to 35 mph; traffic control will be in place for the safety of our construction workers. Contractor hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. This project is estimated to be completed by winter 2020.

US 180, Mile Marker 115 to 120, Arenas Valley

Hasse Contracting Co., (Contractor) will have a lane closures in effect on US 180 on both eastbound and westbound lanes for road repairs in Grant County. The speed limit will be reduced for the safety of the crew. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Project is expected to be completed by early 2021. 

US 180, Mile Marker 123 to 161, Silver City to Deming

Terracon Consultants, Inc., (Contractor) will have a lane closures in effect on US 180 on both eastbound and westbound lanes for soil testing. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph for the safety of the crew. Hours of operation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Project is expected to be completed by November 13, 2020.

State Roadways:

California Street Valve & Manhole Cover Repairs, Socorro

A Mountain Construction (Contractor) will begin repairing the valve box and manhole covers along California Street in Socorro starting Monday November 2, 2020. Lane closures will be in place for the safety of the crew, various lanes closures will be in place overnight as needed. Construction hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. lasting until approximately November 30, 2020.

NM 187 “El Camino Real”, Mile Marker 15.4 to 16.09, Arrey 

Hasse Contacting Company, Inc. (Contractor) has begun the replacement of Bridges located in Arrey. The first bridge is located at milepost 15.4 near the Caballo Dairy; the second bridge is located at milepost 16.09 near Agua Fria Road over the Montoya Arroyo. Both bridges have a detoured bypass at their locations; a 12 foot width restriction will be in place. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. 

Hatch Safety Improvement Project, NM 26 

Hasse Contacting Company, Inc. (Contractor) will continue roadway improvement project along NM 26 in Hatch. Road Improvements will begin with the replacement and upgrade of sidewalk, curb and gutter and ramps to include ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accommodations. Sidewalks will be detoured in areas for construction and the safety of the public. Contractor has also began paving along NM 26, watch for heavy equipment on roadway, reduce speeds, lane closures and flagging operations. Contractor hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm daily. 

Chip Seal Projects, Socorro Co:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing “Fog Sealing” with Brooming operations in Socorro Co. north of Socorro.  Speed limits will be reduced, no center stripe with loose gravel on roadway. Traffic will encounter lane drops with pilot car and flagging operations.    

Roadways affected will be: I-25 southbound from milepost 174.9 to 159, Socorro area

Continue to use caution as roadway is not striped. Construction is expected to be completed by November 5, 2020

Las Cruces Projects – City of Las Cruces:

Nevada Avenue 

From Walnut to Lees will have road work, access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.  Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.
