The Scale Up New Mexico program, funded in part by the U.S. Economic Development Administration and housed at New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center, recently concluded its 2023 pitch competition event with resounding success.

Entrepreneurs and innovators from across the state came together to showcase their groundbreaking ideas. After fierce competition, three outstanding startups emerged as the top contenders.

The event, held Oct. 26 at Electric Playhouse in Albuquerque, brought together investors, business leaders, and an enthusiastic audience eager to witness the future of business and technology. With a competitive spirit in the air, each participating startup delivered a compelling pitch, presenting their unique solutions to real-world challenges to a panel of seasoned judges.

After intense deliberation, the judges selected the following top three startups:

Scintellite: Scintellite designs and manufactures ophthalmic instruments that improve workflow for comprehensive eye exams.Cheshir Industries: Power-efficient, cost-effective antenna hardware and IP to enable the sustainable, widespread deployment of high-speed 5G.Perspective Components: NoiseVu’s technology employs audio-based Artificial Intelligence to instantly detect and alert police to crimes and emergencies such as gunshots, glass breaks, reckless driving, and catalytic converter theft.

During the Scale Up NM Pitch Competition, participants benefited from valuable mentorship, networking opportunities and feedback from industry experts. These connections are integral to helping the startups grow and scale their operations.

“We’re thrilled about the boundless potential and innovation that these startups bring to the table,” said Dana Catron, deputy director at Arrowhead Center. “The future of these businesses, nurtured through Scale Up NM, shines brilliantly, and we’re excited to witness their transformative impact on New Mexico’s entrepreneurial landscape.”

The event also featured keynote speakers who shared their entrepreneurial journeys and insights, inspiring those in attendance. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to engage in networking sessions, fostering collaboration and partnerships among the startup community.

Carlos Murguia, Scale Up NM program manager, said he was satisfied with the outcome of the competition.

“We are proud to have witnessed such incredible innovation and entrepreneurial spirit at this year's Scale Up NM Pitch Competition. These startups represent the bright future of New Mexico's business landscape, and we're excited to see how they will contribute to our state’s growth,” he said.

Scale Up NM continues to be a driving force in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in New Mexico. As these startups move forward, they will continue to receive support and mentorship, helping them reach new heights in their respective industries.
