Eagle Nest Lake and Fenton Lake are closed effective immediately due to unsafe, icy conditions on the water
Camping and day-use activities inside the state parks are still available to the public

Santa Fe, NM – The State Parks Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department announces that Eagle Nest Lake and Fenton Lake are closed to boating and ice-fishing effective immediately due to unsafe water conditions.

At 8,200 and 7,650 feet in elevation, ice is now forming over portions of the lakes, but it’s not enough yet to safely allow public access for ice fishing. The lakes are also off-limits to all watercraft, including canoes, kayaks, inflatables, and all types of motorboats until further notice.

Eagle Nest Lake and Fenton Lake State Parks will remain open for camping and day-use access.
