PORTALES, NM – January 19, 2024 – Eastern New Mexico University proudly presents Rodney Atkins at Greyhound Arena on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 6 p.m., sponsored by JP Stone Community Bank.

Rodney Atkins, one of Country Music’s biggest stars, has reached such heights as being named the Top New Male Vocalist at the ACM Awards and seeing his single "Watching You" become the Number One Song of the Decade, according to Country Aircheck, and earn the songwriter a BMI “Million-Air” Award.

With six Number One singles, eight Top 5 singles, and 3.8 billion career streams under his belt, Atkins continues to be recognized as one of the most powerful voices in Country Music. Atkins was the second most-played male artist of the decade overall. He has also sold over 11.4 million units and earned ten career Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum RIAA certifications to date, including his latest Gold-certified single, “Caught Up In The Country (feat. The Fisk Jubilee Singers),” which also set the record for longest-running single (at the time) in Billboard Country Airplay history at 57 weeks.

Clovis, New Mexico’s own Matt Ancira will kick off the evening at 6:30 p.m. Ancira, who plays with several bands based in Eastern New Mexico, will add local flavor to the show.

Following Ancira to the stage, ENMU will welcome Lubbock, Texas's Mason & the Gin Line. Mason & The Gin Line gives you a unique sound while giving you that “red dirt” feel similar to Texas Country greats Jason Abbott, Charlie Robison, and Jason Boland.

With a long tradition of hosting country acts such as George Strait, Kenny Rogers and Willie Nelson, Eastern New Mexico University is proud to continue the tradition of bringing high-quality country music acts to the campus and the Portales community.

“ENMU is thrilled to bring Rodney Atkins to our campus and community,” said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. “We continue our efforts to be great community partners and provide sources of entertainment. I look forward to being there and hope to see a great turnout from our campus and community”.

Tickets are only $50 for standing-room-only floor access, $30 for lower-level reserved seating, and $20 for upper-level general admission. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Jan 24. Purchase online by visiting www.enmu.edu/RodneyAtkins, by calling 575.562.2106, or by visiting the front desk of the Campus Union Building.

A percentage of every ticket sold will go towards a scholarship for ENMU students who are part of the Associated Students Activity Board (ASAB).
