LAS CRUCES -- With the holiday season right around the corner, the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces is the place to be on Nov. 18-19. HomeGrown: A New Mexico Food Show & Gift Market is a great opportunity to sample and shop for New Mexico’s award-winning food products.

The ninth-annual HomeGrown event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $10 per vehicle, and the first 100 vehicles at the event each day will receive a free burlap shopping bag. Cash is encouraged for admission.

Governor to renew executive orders around gun violence and substance misuse 

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham will renew executive orders declaring gun violence a public health emergency on Friday. The governor’s multi-pronged strategy is demonstrating progress
as shown on the state’s gun violence dashboard.
The renewal extends the emergency to Dec. 1, 2023, ensuring that progress continues.

Mexican Wolf Located North of Interstate 40 in Northwest New Mexico

A female wolf (F2754) has been documented crossing out of the Mexican Wolf Experimental Population Area (MWEPA) north of Interstate 40 in New Mexico. The wolf is affixed with a radio collar, which is transmitting its location. She was documented crossing the I-40 boundary west of Albuquerque late last week. Her last location was in the Jemez Mountains west of Jemez Springs. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish are monitoring the wolf’s movements.

Legislators call out backroom eco-deals that will limit vehicle purchases for New Mexicans

SANTA FE – The New Mexico House of Representatives Republican Caucus today issued a public comment strongly opposing the Environmental Improvement Board’s (EIB) efforts to impose unproven mandates on vehicle manufacturers by manipulating the consumer market in favor of expensive electric vehicles and limiting other vehicle sales. The EIB is an unelected board appointed by the Governor.

NMSU art students to offer free workshops, pop-up shows and guided tours of Devasthali Hall

“The art being made in this region isn’t like anything else,” said Margaret Goehring, art department head and professor of art history at New Mexico State University. “Artists working in Las Cruces and El Paso are making such exciting things. The culture is so rich.”


Goehring, fellow faculty and students will share a hands-on experience with the community with a day of “Open Studios.” From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, visitors are invited to participate in workshops, guided tours and even do some holiday shopping via the student art sale at Devasthali Hall, located at 1308 E. University Ave.

First flu cases of the season reported in New Mexico

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) announced the start of the 2023-2024 flu season as the DOH Scientific Laboratory Divisionconfirms the first two flu infections in the state – one each in northern and southern New Mexico.  

“The geographical spread of these flu cases serves as an early indicator that we are likely to see more flu cases across the state in the upcoming weeks and months,” said Department of Health Secretary Patrick Allen. “The best time possible to get your annual flu vaccination is now, especially while overall flu rates in New Mexico and the United States remain relatively low. We also encourage individuals to get the new COVID-19 vaccine as well.”
