Isabel M. Bernal, 89, a former resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Fort Bayard Medical Center.

She was born January 14, 1924 in Monticello, NM to Polidoro and Barbarita (Silva) Montoya. She loved gardening, crocheting, sewing and quilting. She loved working around young children. She joined the Grandma's Program in Santa Clara Pre-school.

She is survived by her son, Louie Bernal and wife Mary Helen of Bayard; one sister, Ofelia Ramos and husband Alex of Truth or Consequences; three brothers, Prospero Montoya of Albuquerque; Perfecto Montoya and wife Jenny of Truth or Consequences; Elias Montoya of Santa Clara; two grandchildren, Michael Bernal and Mark Bernal and wife Christina; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Bernal and Shawn Strain. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Desiderio "Lelo" L. Bernal; her son, Albert Bernal; three brothers, Edras, Jose and Eloy Montoya.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 20 from 4 - 6 pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the vigil service and holy rosary to begin at 6 pm with Father Robert Becerra reciting. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, November 21 at 10 am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Roberto Becerra officiating. Concluding service interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael and Mark Bernal, Eli Montoya, Ryan Bernal, Hubert Montoya and Walter Vigil.
