Robert "Bobby" Barka Gonzales, 61, a resident of Lordsburg passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in El Paso, Texas.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at ten o'clock in the morning at Baca's Funeral Chapels with Tyler Connoley officiating. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at three o'clock in the afternoon at Mt. View Cemetery in Lordsburg, NM with Veterans Honors accorded by the local veterans groups.

Bobby was born in Silver City, NM on April 20, 1952 to Manuel Gonzales and Mary Elizabeth Barka. Bobby served his country in the United States Army from 1972 through 1974. He had many friends and family that will truly miss his company, laugh, and friendship. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting. Those that knew him can say he was a strong willed man that spoke his mind. His last battle was tough and he was a fighter until the end.

Bobby is survived by his daughters Jennifer Gonzales and her husband Jimmy of Los Lunas, NM, Yvette Gonzales-Laake and her husband Jimmy of Bastrop, TX, son, Robert Gonzales, Jr. and his wife Lori of Bastrop, TX, Brother, Eddie Joe Diaz and his wife Margaret of Silver City. Grandchildren include Jimmy Jr. and Jared Gonzales, Jonathan Gonzales, Tyler Gremillion, Taylor and Ricky Schulze. Nephews, Nicholas and Isaac Diaz and Niece Danielle Diaz. His Aunts and Uncles include Iola Diaz, Alice Barka, Jimmy Barka and Eddie Barka. Numerous cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, special aunt Irene Hood, brother Roger Diaz and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
