Elena V. Flores, 90, a Deming resident passed away Tuesday April 29, 2014 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Visitation will begin at 4 o'clock Friday May 2, 2014 at Baca's Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil to follow at 7 o'clock. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday May 3, 2014 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Ronald J. Burke officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Elena was born August 18, 1923 in Pima, Arizona to Maria Valles and Fernando Flores. She had worked as a cook and was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Elena was a volunteer at the Senior Citizen Center and was known as a Golden Angel. Her pastime was playing bingo and she loved spending time with all of her family.

Survivors include a son, John Flores (Anna) of California; 5 daughters, Esperanza Aguilar (Martin), Rosa Loya, Irma Rivera (Jerry), Mary Helen Allison, Sylvia Duran (Robert) all of Deming; 2 brothers, Angel and Fernando Flores, both of Mexico; 3 sisters, Herminia Dominguez, Petra Mosqueda and Maria Luisa Mendez all of Mexico; 3 sisters-in-law, Consuelo, Gloria and Rosa Flores; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and Mary Chacon, care taker and special friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando and Maria Flores, brothers, Melquiades, Luis, Jose and Gilbert Flores; sisters, Prisilliana Flores, Yolanda Ulate; daughter, Hilda Costulis; son-in-law, Jesus Loya; granddaughter, Guadalupe (Lupie) Aguilar.
